End of the Year Survey

By Kath Snape

AHHHH the end of the year and below was the post I wrote for other Hufflepuffs in May. It is a survey and eight very busy Badgers took the time to answer the survey. After the survey introduction, please read their wonderful and funny responses.

HUFFLEPUFF 2009/2010 &mdash YEAR END SURVEY

Well, "Happy May" to all Hufflepuffs. I can see the end of the tunnel concerning all my classwork. I hope it is the same for all of you.

There won't be a poll this time, just an opportunity for each and every Hufflepuff to review the 2009/2010 year at HOL and as a Hufflepuff.

Here are our replies!

HERMIONIE MIRANDA

My first year at HOL has been wonderful.
What were your favorite classes?
I've liked a lot of the classes; Writing Your Own Fairy Tales and When Muggles and Magic Collide were my favorites.
Are you hoping to become a Prefect in the year to come?
I do hope I MIGHT become a prefect next year but if not, that's totally fine and I'll do Badger Buddy stuff (I've been approved as a member).
Are you thinking of becoming a student teacher?
I am making my own classes and plan on assisting a couple next year, so we'll see how that goes. I do hope I stay as active I was this year!
Were you happy with the amount of House Points you received?
I'm very happy with my points, I've gotten more than I expected.
Did you make new friends?
Everyone here at HOL was so kind to me, and the Sett just made it all better. I've made plenty of new friends and learned some life lessons, I can't wait for more!
What would you suggest to improve our Hufflepuff home?
Maybe something to improve the Sett would be more "Hello" topics and RPGs, but that's just me.
Did you have a class that didn't meet your expectations?
Really, the classes that didn't "meet" my expectations were Muggle Travel Studies and Muggle Studies: Fashion History. Both were canceled, and I wanted to proceed badly, so looks like HOL didn't want me taking muggle-based classes...(just kidding).
Anything else?
I hope in the coming year we get more Hufflepuffs on IRC too, because it would be great for our house channel to have conversation. I do hope I could get going with my new positions next year, Badger Buddy and Cheerie-O. HOL is a great place for recreation, always a break from real life. And, Hufflepuff rocks!

ZOKI PHANTOM

What were your favorite classes?
Why is this question in plural? If you're asking which classes where my favourite I'll say all of them. However if you ask me which class was my favourite, I'll have to say A Visit To Hogsmeade--simply because I liked the topic and the fact that we had the same due date for all the work.
Did you have a class that didn't meet your expectation?
Well I did have 2 classes that were cancelled, and a class that got lost half on the way, but they--did--meet my expectations, I'm just sad that I didn't have the chance to finish them properly.
Were you happy with the amount of House Points you received?
*cough* I think that if my answer is negative, certain people will hunt me down once this gets published, so I'll just skip this one.
Did you make new friends?
Yes, many! And the best part is that pretty much all of them are awesome.
If you are a 7th year will you be coming back?
I'm a 3rd year, though I wouldn't mind if someone accidentally puts me into 7th year...
Are you hoping to become a Prefect in the year to come?
Lol &mdash that was my wish before I even joined HOL, so we'll see if it'll get fulfilled in the year to come.
Did you enjoy coming to the Hufflepuff SETT?
Most definitely! It's a lovely place with lovely people, everybody should visit it!
What would you like to suggest to improve our Hufflepuff home?
I can't think of anything at the moment, but if I do come up with something, be sure I'll let you know.
Are you thinking of becoming a student teacher?
I already am one, and I plan on staying one next year too (and hopefully I'll be a slightly better Student Teacher than I was this term *nods*).
Anything else?
Another year went by, and I still can't believe how fast time flies....I had many ups and downs, but in the end it's all those wonderful memories with the friends you've made that keep you moving, that keep you craving for more HOLiness. So yes, thank you all who were beside me this year and who are the reason that made me decide that I want to stay for another amazing year.

MAQUELLY JOHN

What were your favorite classes?
My favourite classes were Potions For Beginners and Greek Mythology.
Did you have a class that didn't meet your expectation?
Yes and no. I signed up for it by a bit of an accident and I didn't really think it would be all that great so I suppose it did live up to my expectations as well as not living up to them also.
Were you happy with the amount of House Points you received?
I am thrilled with the amount of points I have recieved. I don't think that over 1000 for about half a year is bad at all. I am excited for next year to see how many I can earn starting from the start of the term and not halfway through the year.
Did you make new friends?
I made heaps of friends! I couldn't possibly name them all because there are so many!
If you are a 7th year will you be coming back?
I am not a 7th year but I am definitely coming back!
Are you hoping to become a Prefect in the year to come?
Being a prefect would be awesome; however, I still am a newbie here so I think the title deserves to go to others more than myself so maybe I will wait a few years.
Did you enjoy coming to the Hufflepuff SETT?
I love coming to the SETT! I come here every single day and I especially love to play Hangwizard.
What would you like to suggest to improve our Hufflepuff home?
Absolutely nothing! It is awesome as it is now.
Are you thinking of becoming a student teacher?
I am thinking about it; however, I don't think I could actually sit down and make a class site and be content with how it looks and such so maybe I might wait until next term.

TARMA BLACK

I deliberately haven't read any of the other replies yet ...
What were your favorite classes?
All of them. No lie. I was being very picky when I choose my classes.
Did you have a class that didn't meet your expectation?
Yes, The Squibbler. I was very disappointed when there wasn't sufficient interest from the students of the class to continue it on for a year.
Were you happy with the amount of House Points you received?
Actually, yes, I am happy with the House Points I've earned so far this year. Last year I got over 4,000 points and participated in everything I could. I think I might get over 3,000 points this year and, with my online time curtailed (from what I had last year), I think that is doing okay.
Did you make new friends?
Yes I've made some lovely friends both in this House and in HOL as a whole. This is good.
If you are a 7th year will you be coming back?
Coming back as what?
Okay, now I'll read replies and then continue ...
Anything else?
This has been a sort of strange HOL Hogwarts year for me. Last year my RL changed a lot and I discovered a wish within myself to be more 'hermit-ish', including not getting online so much. With that in mind, last spring I sort of resigned as HQT Captain after the season ended (ie. I let Lilly and Cosmo have all the fun *cg*) ... and within three days found myself being just as involved, in a different way, when I was dragooned (requested) into becoming to be a Headgirl.
But life is change. Something that has been a thought to touch more and more is that I'm a 7th year student now. In just a while I will graduate (if I pass the NEWTs). That seems large to me; when I started, lo--those many years ago, I never actually thought of the possibility of graduating....
Of course, when I started, lo--those many years ago, I'd not ever played Quidditch either. I thought it was simply impossible, when I saw my first game, what those folks were doing. How in the WORLD can they read those questions and know the answers SO FAST?

ELY GRANGER

What were your favorite classes?
My favourite classes were Académie de Magie Beauxbâtons and Famous Witches and Wizards in History.
Did you have a class that didn't meet your expectation?
Yes: Fairy Folklore, that was cancelled.
Were you happy with the amount of House Points you received?
Yes, I'm very happy!
Did you make new friends?
Lots: Hermionie Miranda, Maquelly John, Zoki Phantom, Rorey Padfoot....
Are you hoping to become a Prefect in the year to come?
Yes, why not? Maybe in 2013.
Did you enjoy coming to the Hufflepuff SETT?
YEAH!!
What would you like to suggest to improve our Hufflepuff home?
Nothing, I like it very much.
Are you thinking of becoming a student teacher?
Yes, maybe next year.

KATELIN ROSS

What were your favorite classes?
My favorite class, by far, was the Hogsmeade class! I loved how it was put together, and that you had until end of term to finish it.
Did you have a class that didn't meet your expectation?
Yes, there was a class that I was excited about but it kind of got forgotten and other lessons never posted.
Were you happy with the amount of House Points you received?
Yes! I exceeded my goal!
Did you make new friends?
TONS!!! I love meeting new friends on here and on irc.
If you are a 7th year will you be coming back?
Not a 7th year yet.
Are you hoping to become a Prefect in the year to come?
Yes that would be nice; it is eventually a goal of mine.
Did you enjoy coming to the Hufflepuff SETT?
Oh yes, and I love Hangwizard!
What would you like to suggest to improve our Hufflepuff home?
Nothing, I love my Hufflepuff home just as it is!
Are you thinking of becoming a student teacher?
Yes

SAMUEL CRAFT

What were your favorite classes?
This term, my two favorite classes were Art Appreciation: The Ninja Turtles and Famous Witches and Wizards in History.
Did you have a class that didn't meet your expectation?
Well, I didn't set very high expectations to begin with but, no, none of my classes were unsatisfactory to me.
Were you happy with the amount of House Points you received?
Yes, I thought the amount of House Points I received were given fairly, though I wished I took the time to earn more for Hufflepuff.
Did you make new friends?
I think that's a safe assumption to make. I also used to be a member here a while ago and just recently came back, so it's nice to see some familiar faces still lingering around The Sett.
Are you hoping to become a Prefect in the year to come?
No, I don't plan to.
Did you enjoy coming to the Hufflepuff SETT?
Yes, I log into The Sett multiple times a day.
What would you like to suggest to improve our Hufflepuff home?
I think it would be nice to see some new areas to post in. I'm not exactly sure about what topic specifically, but it would be nice to see some activity around here. In addition, some new games and role-play threads would be nice too.
Are you thinking of becoming a student teacher?
I am, in fact, planning on becoming a student teacher for the next school year. The class I plan on teaching is called Factions of Superheroes, a class about different and famous superhero teams, such as the X-Men and Justice League, and certain superheroes that are part of those teams.

PROFESSOR FELICIA HARTWICK

What were your favorite classes?
That would have to be A Visit to Hogsmeade. You know I have the reputation of being a shopper so this is right up my alley. But the main reason I'm enjoying this class is because I get to write the assignment creatively. Which isn't really new, just ask Ulol, Dom or Ceit about the novels I used to send to them, but this time we were ask to do this.
Did you have a class that didn't meet your expectation?
There was one that sort of didn't meet my expectation, but I will not mention which one it was. It turned me off because the lessons weren't proofread well and had lots of grammatical errors. I'm thinking that English was not the teacher's first language so I would have expected they would have had someone look over the lessons a bit more carefully.
Were you happy with the amount of House Points you received?
Let's not even open that can of nagles.
Did you make new friends?
Nope, I'm shy. Hehehe Yes, met some new friends and continued the fun with the old ones.
If you are a 7th year will you be coming back?
Merlin's beard, you better believe I'm coming back.
Are you hoping to become a Prefect in the year to come?
Wouldn't that be redundant?
Did you enjoy coming to the Hufflepuff SETT?
Yes, Yes, Yes &mdash and oh yeah &mdash yes.
What would you like to suggest to improve our Hufflepuff home?
Haven't a clue, but we better keep our games and just try to get more Newbies into the Sett next year.
Are you thinking of becoming a student teacher?
Nope. Truthfully, I teach in RL and this is my relaxing time. To have to 'teach' here would not be relaxing to me. But you never know.

Thanks so much to all you wonderful BADGERS who responded to the survey. I wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable summer.

*hugs* Kath
